Shaving your head is a huge commitment, but luckily, as the old saying goes, hair does grow, and that is great reassurance. However, some men shave their heads completely bald, Bruce Willis-style, once they start to see that they are going bald or that their hair is thinning. So, in that case, maybe hair doesn't grow.

All the same, it is a great option for those who need a change or a way to start completely over with a sassy and bold new look, for both men and women. Let's face it: the majority of us have probably abused our hair in more ways than one. Examples: coloring, perming, Brazilian blowouts, heat styling, overall environmental damage, overwashing, chlorine damage; you get the idea.

We have damaged our hair to the point of no return, and I honestly cannot say how many times I have dyed my hair from light to dark and back again over the past twenty years along with daily heat damage a nd all that goes with it. The fact that I am not bald amazes me to no end, and there are probably some of you thinking the exact same thing, like, "Wow, now that I think about it, how am I not bald by now?"

Pros of Shaving Your Head

There are actually a lot of pros to shaving your head, whether you are a man or woman, that you may not even realize because it is something so completely out of your realm that it has not even crossed your mind. It's time for it to cross your mind and understand why taking to the clippers might be the perfect option for you, regardless of your gender.

As I mentioned before, shaving your head, even just buzzing it, leaving only millimeter-length hair, can give your hair a completely new and fresh start. You are literally starting from scratch, so you can go from mussed and chemically treated to a clean slate and let it grow if you so choose. And when it grows back, the health of your hair will be incredibly impressive and you will be so thankful that you took the plunge.

Along with the clean slate aspect, if you have finer hair, there is a chance that the follicles can now grow back thicker, which is a bonus! It can also grow back stronger and act as a total and complete scalp/follicular cleanse so you are erasing all of the damage, buildup, and gunk that has been accumulating over time.

Again, I hate to sound like a broken record, but this is the perfect way for women to obtain a fresh start when it comes to their hair and if you have high-maintenance hair and a rigorous routine, this will be so freeing for you. To wake up and just put on makeup, accentuate your best features, and go! How liberating is that?

Suddenly, people will begin to notice your eyes, your cheekbones, your accessories, things you never imagined before because you were so reliant on your hair. Plus, you will gain so much time. Think about all the extra things that you can do, and if you like to work out, the showering process will be one-two-done.

And you don't have to go super shiny, down to the scalp bald. That's not the only kind of head shaving there is. There is a happy medium where you still have hair but it's just buzzed, and if you are transitioning from long to short, see how many inches will be cut off.
