If you like to switch fragrances and usually buy many different shampoos, try this trick: buy a neutral-smelling shampoo and add a drop or two of your favorite essential oils into your hand before you wash your hair. You can do the same with your conditioner.
One little bottle of essential oil goes a long way and has many uses, not just for your hair. It is a worthy expense, especially when you choose natural oils like lavender, rosemary, or eucalyptus, which have many health benefits. You could even make your own shampoo!
Healthy hair is beautiful hair and does not require many expensive treatments that come in bottles and tubes. Keep your locks in good health, and the rest will follow.
A rinse with a half cup of vinegar in one liter of water removes product build-up from your hair and will make it shiny. Besides that, it also balances the pH on your scalp, works against dandruff and oily scalp, and makes the cuticle layer of your hair tighten up, so the moisture in your hair is protected, and your hair will be less frizzy.
Olive oil is a great alternative to expensive hot oil treatments, and you already have it in your kitchen. It infuses moisture in your hair, nourishes the scalp, brings shine and manageability. Rub it in, let it sit for 30 minutes, or overnight and wash it out.
Mix your own deep conditioning treatment. Yogurt does not only aid in cleansing your hair, but it also provides healthy nutrients that will make your hair soft and shiny. Blend it with an egg yolk for dryer hair, add some lemon juice if your hair is on the oily side. Apply and read a magazine for about 15 minutes. Rinse out and show off the shine!
Always rinse with lukewarm to cold water; it will close the cuticles of your hair, and a lot of shine and healthy flow will be your reward for the temperature shock.
Make sure to have a good comb and brush for your daily grooming that will not damage your hair.
Save on styling products
Pomades and waxes can easily be replaced by a dab of your favorite body lotion. It does the trick to style short hair, to accentuate individual strands, and to help with the lift of the spikes. At the same time, it nourishes the hair, and you’ll have more of a scent that you like around you. For longer hair, you can use a tiny bit as a leave-in conditioner by gently rubbing it into the ends.
Aloe Vera can substitute hair gel without the drying effect. It provides texture and hold to the hair.
Use a good mousse. Hair mousse conditions your hair, keeps it in its shape, gives it texture, and adds volume. It can replace gel and hairspray, so you save money by using only one product instead of three or four.
By following some of the advice in this article, you will not only save some money, but you will also do good things for the environment, get more creative, and have more parties! It's a win-win situation!
