Up-style with Feathers for a Long Bob (2)
Previous Page7. Note that the curls are even and symmetrical from the front view. It is aesthetically more pleasing when you style the curls around the facial area in the direction that faces away from the face. Have a look at the curls of the Victoria secret models and you’ll understand this concept better. The curls flow from the hairline area towards the back of their head, creating that ethereal-beauty effect.

8. When you have reached the top section of the head, start curling all the curls to the back again, all in the same direction to enhance the uniformity of the curls. Remember to continuously spray the curls with your medium- to strong hold hairspray to enhance the structural strength of the curls. Take care not to disturb the already created curls.
10. Gently comb the top curls back with your fingertips. Twist and secure this section of curls with disguised bobby-pins. Note that there is an element of volume concerning this bubble. The volume is important for the aesthetical value from the front and especially side-view.
If the bubble doesn’t automatically form this volume, use the sharp end of your tail-comb to gently pull the bubble in an upwards direction to create this element of volume. Spray the bubble with a strong-hold aerosol hairspray to keep it in place while simultaneously improving the structural base of the style.
11. Use your fingertips and gather the hair from the side of the model’s head, combing the hair in the direction of the opposite side. Secure the hair into place in an off-centre style that falls to the side of the model’s shoulder. Use your bobby-pins to secure the hair, taking care to place the pins in such a manner that it cannot be seen.
Use black pins for dark hair and gold pins for blonde. Spray the hair with your aerosol hairspray while combing back any fly-away or baby hairs that might be sticking up. Note the one curl left at the ear for aesthetical balance.

12. It may be impossible do disguise all the pins. This is alright in this case, as we’ll be using feathers to decorate the up-style. You’ll be able to hide the visible parts of the pins with the feathers. The pins should be inserted in a cross-over technique to ensure that they do not come loose and fall out during the day/night.
13. Note the aesthetical balance of the placement of the side-swept curls. It is always important to take into account the facial shape, facial characteristics and the style of the dress that your model will be wearing.
14. Note the aesthetical balance of the bubble in relation to the height of the side-swept and secured curls on the side of her head. The silhouette of the hairstyle is in equilibrium and is flattering concerning the model’s facial shape and features. The solitary curl on the opposite side completes the balance and poise of the style perfectly. Spray your style with strong-hold aerosol hairspray and complete it with a silicone based shine-spray.

15. Insert you feathers very carefully into the model’s hair. It is best to use feathers with a long point, in order to secure it. You can also attach the feathers to pins, and just insert the pins into the hair. This will of course be the safest option. Do not use any hairspray on the feathers as the spray will ruin the downy and velvety little feathers at the base of the feather.
16. Insert feathers along the front-view of the side-swept section as well, to increase its aesthetical beauty and balance.
17. Take care not to over-do the amount of feathers. The feathers should also not be too long or too wildly colored. Remember that this is a sophisticated hairstyle, you don’t want to rium it with feathers that throw off the balance.
