How to Cut a Short Inverted Bob (3)
Previous Page First Page13. Continue to do this all along the section at the side, until you have reached the top/middle parting of the model’s head. Note the undeniably attention-grabbing shape of the short inverted bob that is emerging from the hair. It has gentle longer layers framing the face, while the back of the style is progressively shorter and portrays an almost ladylike punk feeling when the hair is messy at the back.
14. As you have completed the whole of the first side of the style, again comb the hair downwards and then slightly towards the side/back of the style in order to detect any anomalies or differences in length or angle in the hair. If you do notices something that compromises the seamless surface of progressing layers, correct this now before you move on to the next step.
16. Note the messy effect of the short section in the triangular section, while the layers progressively get longer towards the front of the hair. This is the distinctive look of the inverted bob. The back of the style is designed and textured to style extremely easily and with minimal effort, while the longer layers along the face adds a glamorous and feminine touch to the style. Also note how the longer layers framing the face run along the angle of the model’s jaw-bone.
17. Advance towards the other side of the model’s head, remove the clip and repeat steps eight to sixteen, so that the two sides of the hairstyle are mirror images of each other. This is also an important aspect of the style; the sides should look exactly alike, corresponding in length, width and thickness. Continually check in your mirror that the two sides are exactly alike, and correct any anomalies that might arise during this process.

18. When you’ve finished both sides, comb the hair on top of the head towards the back of the style. You’ll notice that the ends of the side sections aren’t cut onto proportion of the rest of the style, potentially ruining the seamless effect of the progressing layers. You will now cut these edges into proportion according to the relevant weight lines.
19. Use you cutting comb, and comb the hair back towards the back of the model’s head. Cut the longer lengths into proportion with the rest of the hair at the back. Use the horizontal section in the occipital bone region as a guide-line. You can also texturize the hair in this region so that the hair styles easier and with enough volume when the client desires it.
20. Cross-reference the hair on the top of the model’s head in horizontal two-inch sections at a time. Begin at the forehead and work your way towards the back of the head. Make sure that there are no hooks or asymmetrical angles along the ridge of the length of the hair. If there is, cut it so that it falls in line with the rest of the hair.
21. Comb your model’s hair into style and check the shape of the cut. If you need to, you may use texturizing techniques to shape the hairstyle even further, or to give it an individualistic edge. Show the client how to style her own hair, and make suggestions as to which styling products should be used.
