Look Younger with a Bob

Q: I’m 52 and considering getting a bob cut. In general, does a 50 plus woman look younger with a bob?

A: A bob is a good call for most women, but especially for more mature women.
Shorter hair “opens up” your face, meaning that your face and eyes aren’t bogged down with excessively long hair whipping all over the show.

Longer hair also tends to get oily at the roots while the tips are dry, especially in older women who don’t have the time or patience to pamper their tresses.

Bobs are easy to wash and blow dry and maintain, thus women with this hairstyle tend to look well-tended, which in turn has a youthful effect.

If you want to increase the youthful effect of the bob, add a sprinkle of fine highlights or baby highlights to your hair around the face. Lighter pieces of hair make a woman look years younger than she actually is.

Even if you’re a brunette; adding a few light-brown highlights will make a huge difference. Redheads also look good with copper highlights.
