Glasses and Forehead Hair

Q: Is it better to keep your hair away from your forehead when you wear glasses?

A: Interesting question… I’ve found that having bangs can be irritating when I’m wearing glasses, as the hair tends to get stuck between my eyes and my glasses. This is seriously irritating to my eyes and the sensitive skin right below the eyes.

So while working with glasses on, it’s usually better to keep the hair away from the face so that it doesn’t end up right in your face. You can do this by clipping it back, using a pin to keep your fringe back or by wearing a head band.

On the other hand; having a fringe while wearing glasses can look really trendy. Celebrities like Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Aniston, Lauren Conrad, Leona Lewis, Megan Fox and a whole slew of other Hollywood A-listers are well known for rocking their glasses while still looking hot.

Most of these celebs have long bangs which frame the face in soft waves. Because the hair is longer, it won’t get stuck between their eyes and the glasses as easily. When the bangs are shorter, for example touching the eyebrows or eyelids, the fringe can be a problem.

I would say that while working, especially while writing, working on the computer, etc. where making a fashion or beauty statement comes secondary, pull your hair back into a ponytail or bun, or clip your hair back to keep it out of your face. When you go out, you can style your hair to frame your face or blow-dry your fringe to hang down like you would normally do.

Especially if your bangs are longer and frame the face in waves, you can use a medium hold hairspray to keep the hair from interfering with your sight by just spraying the bangs into place.

In conclusion; aesthetic-wise, there is no problem with having a fringe when you wear glasses. In fact, combining bangs and glasses is quite trendy. Comfort-wise, you may have to make a few alterations when wearing your glasses when you have a medium length fringe, especially while working or studying.
