Double Crown Hair

What a double crown looks like

Q: Could you tell me how I can get over the problem of a double crown? Do I need shorter hair on top, or what? I need to hide the parting. Please help.

A: Well, unless you want a spiky, stand-up hairstyle, you don't want to go shorter in the area with a double crown. You need the weight of the hair to keep it lying down, as double crowns tend to push the hair upward.

My initial thought is to suggest you consider a curly hairstyle that will allow you to mask the double crown by covering the crowns with curls. You can have a layered hairstyle, but make sure the layers are long enough to keep the hair in the double crown area lying in the direction you want.

The most effective masking technique will depend on the direction of the whorls of your particular double crown, but keeping the hair longer will usually help to cope with the problem. If you want to go with a layered style, try to keep the layers confined to the lower ends of the hairstyle.

There are also a number of styling products that can help. Gels and smoothing serums can help add weight to the hair and make them lie in the desired direction. Hairsprays can also help by holding the hair in the style you create.
