Katie Couric brings a touch of class wherever she goes, and the 2010 Stand Up To Cancer Event held on September 10th was no exception.

Her black power suit came together with a neat gathering under the bust that created a slimming look, while her burnt sienna-colored shirt's collar hung decoratively like a scarf, showing off her petite "UP" necklace in support of the event.

The matching black slingbacks added just the right amount of sass to an otherwise authoritative look. Part of Katie's professional appearance is due to her lightly colored hair, creating a nice contrast against the black ensemble she's wearing.

When styling short hair, it's important to create height (unless you're aiming for a flat-to-the-head look). To achieve height, start by washing away any lingering sebum on the scalp. The shorter the hair, the more frequent the washing needs to be.

Apply a lipid plump treatment before blow-drying. Part the hair off-center and use a round brush to lift the crown area. Use a flat iron for the areas around the nape to achieve the commanding appearance that Katie does so well.
